Kelly Brook

When a project with a sink or swim theme presented itself, the obvious conclusion I came to, was that nothing could be more fun than shooting Kelly Brook five metres underwater.

An adventurous task requiring the production values of Jaws.

As well as commissioning award winning underwater photographer, Zac Macauley, I assembled a crew of underwater assistants, three man team of safety divers, second underwater photographer to record the event, an above water crew of styling, hair and makeup, reportage photographer and assistant, specialist lighting design and to round it all off a team of synchronised swimmers. Preproduction included advance medical certificates, risk assessment, health and safety measures and insurance.

Underwater shooting takes around three times that of a dry shoot and that is with a model used to diving. Kelly had never dived or used breathing apparatus before, but as always was brilliantly professional and we got every shot on the schedule, best of all I didn't even have to get wet.
